Use the Server Settings dialog box to specify the return address and SMTP server that LanSafe uses when sending e-mail notification.
When LanSafe sends an e-mail notification it places a default or custom e-mail address in the sender/from/return field of the message.
This is the traditional LanSafe method of specifying a sender/return address. Select this option to receive e-mails from LanSafe@[computerName] where [computerName] is the name of the computer sending the message.
Since [computerName] may not be a valid internet domain, some SMTP servers may perceive an e-mail sent from the default address as spam and could fail to deliver the message. If the default address does not work, use the custom e-mail address option.
The custom address option allows you to specify a valid e-mail address as the sender/return address for all e-mails sent by LanSafe. This helps ensure that e-mails sent by LanSafe will not be interpreted as spam by an SMTP server.
E-mail server settings must be valid in order to send e-mails in response to an event. There are two ways to specify an SMTP server for sending e-mail notification.
If you do not know the address of your SMTP server, select this option. We recommend you send a test e-mail to verify your network can properly access this server before configuring e-mail event notification. This is selected by default when no SMTP server is specified at install.
If you have a specific SMTP server you want to use for e-mail event notification, select this option.
It is not always necessary to specify a Username or Password for the SMTP server. Contact your system administrator to determine whether these values are required.
