Eaton Enhances Power Protection Products For The Information Technology Community With Upgrades To Powerware ePDUs And Powerware BladeUPS

PITTSBURGH ...Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced product enhancements to Powerware® Enclosure Power Distribution Units (ePDU™) and Powerware® BladeUPS™. Featuring intelligent information technology (IT) functionality and advanced in-rack power distribution capabilities, both products are ideal for today’s high-power computing environments.

Introduced in September, Powerware ePDUs provide advanced metering, monitoring and management capabilities for IT equipment like blade servers located in high-density enclosures, wiring closets and technical office applications. The units provide IT managers with switched functionality for receptacle-level control, user-defined sequencing of outlets, power-draw-monitoring and remote shut-off capabilities. As an industry first, Eaton is launching the Powerware ePDU 80A, 0U unit which can support over 23kW in a single rack. This ePDU allows five fully populated blade chassis to run without taking any additional U-space in the rack.

In addition to Powerware ePDUs, Eaton’s Powerware BladeUPS was enhanced to interface with Powerware® Rack Power Module (RPM) to provide a completely modular and scalable back-up power system including power distribution. As the industry’s most energy efficient, rack-based three-phase uninterruptible power system, the Powerware BladeUPS now offers plug-and-play connectivity to the RPM to deliver up to 100 amps of power in an organized manner to mixed loads like blade servers, storage and network equipment requiring various voltages and power.

For added flexibility, the 3U RPM can be deployed in the same rack with the UPS or IT equipment; eliminating the need for a dedicated power distribution infrastructure rack. The resulting architecture has fewer cables to manage, fewer distribution points to monitor and greater flexibility for IT personnel to make changes without an electrician.
