EATON LAUNCHES NEW UPS FOR SHIPS
HAMBURG, GERMANY…Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation (NYSE:ETN) has unveiled the new Powerware 9120M, a 2 and 3kVA double-conversion online uninterruptible power system (UPS) for Marine Applications.
The new Powerware 9120M for Marine Applications has been developed for critical onboard computer and communication equipment that has to keep working even in case of a general power failure. With its double conversion design, the 9120M provides uninterruptible clean sine wave power to the critical loads.
With a strong focus in reliability and availability, Powerware 9120M is a natural choice for bridge systems such as ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems), other navigation systems (such as radar and DPS), CAMS (Control and Alarm Monitoring Systems), VDR (Voyage Data Recorder) and communication systems.
“Powerware 9120M provides two key features, which makes it an extremely attractive choice for onboard use. It offers all the necessary UPS functions, batteries, basically everything that’s needed in a one single box. In addition, the DNV (Det Norske Veritas) type approval guarantees that the 9120M can be installed and used onboard without any extra considerations or time consuming formalities,” says Juha Lantta, Marketing Manager of Marine Power Systems, Eaton. “Powerware 9120M is a result of long-term product development guided by customer feedback. With several state-of-the-art capabilities like two redundant battery strings that are easily hot swappable by the customer, we are eager to cause enthusiasm in the marine market.” The design of the Powerware 9120M is based on Eaton's industry leading global UPS technology platform. Eaton's range of marine UPSs combine advanced base technology with the necessary marine modifications. Powerware 9120M models are adapted for use in the ungrounded electrical distribution system (IT mains), have hardened mechanical design, LCD display, mechanical shock absorbers and meet the classification societies' special safety regulations and requirements.
With its wide input voltage window, the 9120M is capable of working with mains power in most conditions without discharging batteries, thus saving battery capacity for when it is really needed. 9120M can be used for almost any application in its power range as such. But should the load application require customisation the wide range of options such as external battery cabinets and transformer cabinets are available. In addition to marine use, Powerware 9120M is also a considerable choice in oil-drilling platforms and industrial use.
