Version 1.2.50

Use the ERM Configurator to configure supported UPSs to function with Extended Battery Modules (EBMs). This configuration tool works with the following UPS models:

  • 5125 rated from 1000VA - 2200VA
  • 5125RM rated from 1000VA - 3000VA
  • 9125 rated from 700VA - 3000VA

The ERM Configurator runs on Windows operating systems.

Issue:
UPSs report their battery run time (how long the UPS can operate on battery power) based-upon information that is built-into the UPS when it is manufactured. If you purchase an EBM to add additional batteries to your UPS to extend the run time, you must then configure the UPS to recognize that additional power is now available and report the run time properly.

Solution:
The ERM Configurator updates variables in a UPS to recognize that EBMs are present, resulting in accurate battery run time calculations and reporting. The ERM Configurator must be run whenever a new EBM is added to or removed from a UPS.

The ERM Configurator ensures that accurate battery run times are reported to any software communicating with the UPS. Power management software uses runtime information to conduct a timely shutdown of attached servers (loads). Changing the number of EBMs attached to a UPS without running the ERM Configurator can result in an incorrect battery run time being reported by the UPS and power management software causing an early shutdown of attached computers.
